Breanne: 3.5 million Immigrants Needed to Help Shore Up Federal Programs

WASHINGTON-As baby boomers retire in greater numbers putting a strain on Medicare and Social Security, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Berananke said the country would need 3.5 million taxpaying new immigrants to help shore up the federal programs, reports the Chinese-language World Journal.
When asked at the Economics Club of Washington if the pressure of an aging population meant that the United States should revise it immigration policy to welcome more new immigrants, Berananke said that currently only about 1 million new immigrants enter the US legally every year.
If the US were to rely on immigrants to support Social Security and Medicare whit an adequate workforce, it would need 3.5 million new immigrants every year, he said.
This news talk about need of American society for activities workforce that as new immigrants enter to the US.
